Ed Ruscha - Ed-Werd Rew-Shay Young Artist
Ed Ruscha - Ed-Werd Rew-Shay Young Artist
A catalog of Ruscha’s work published to accompany an exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The exhibition ran Apr. 18-May 28, 1972.
This copy comes in its exceedingly rare complete form, with business cards from Ruscha and the curator of the exhibition, Edward A. Foster.
Ruscha designed both the catalog and his business card. The catalog, effectively a Ruscha work in itself, was designed to mimic the Big Little Book series of children’s books. The last third of the book contains blank pages, which were necessary for Ruscha to achieve the right thickness of these books. Brilliant.
The business card has a phonetic spelling of his name, alongside ‘YOUNG ARTIST’.
Only 2000 copies were printed. Most do not include the business cards. Even fewer are in as nice condition as this. The catalog, while brilliant, was not well-produced so many copies show splitting on the spine or loose pages.
This copy has few markings on the cover, and there are no internal markings. The spine does show some discoloration. Cards show some foxing.
Exceedingly rare in this condition and this complete.
