Le Volume Bleu et Jaune
Maybe my favourite book ever. Books like this are the reason I do this.
Not many people know about this one. But, more should because it’s brilliant.
Here’s the story: It started with four anonymous students at l’academie de france studying the effects of a window at Villa Medici in Rome for two weeks.
The students became enamoured with the room and petitioned to study the movement of light in the room over the course of two years. Two years, one room.
This book is the result of those two years. They only printed 2000 copies. Each copy hand-numbered. This copy has a hand-written note by one of the artists on the inside cover.
The book is filled with tipped-in colour photographs of the movement of light and an insane amount of beautiful diagrams tracking the movement and effects of light over the course of the two years.
All prices include shipping in the US and Canada.
