I think it’s safe to call this a grail piece.

This is the first hardcover printing of The Philosophy of Andy Warhol that is signed by Warhol on the cover and inscribed on the inner cover.

Navigating Warhol signatures, especially signatures on this book is convoluted and pretty confusing.

When the book was released, many copies were initialed by Warhol on the inner cover to promote sales. No one knows exactly how many copies were initialed. These initialed copies are not impossible to find, but getting tougher to find in the past few years.

This copy is signed with Warhol’s full name twice. These are much, much more rare and exciting as someone had to get close enough to Warhol to obtain the signature, or was a friend-of-a-friend, etc.

In my opinion, this is an ideal Warhol signature - nice and bold with a thick sharpie and a nice inscription.

A great piece to display. Anything with Warhol’s signature is only getting more difficult to find and more expensive.
