This is an absolutely gorgeous book. The packaging, photography, site; everything.
The book is a collection of photos by Kanichiro Shimada of the Katsura Palace - one of the most historic and important examples of Japanese architecture and garden design.
The book is housed in a folded cardboard outer. Inside is another shell case and envelope containing a small booklet outlining specific architectural details of the site. Inside the shell case is the hardcover book.
The images are beautiful and look surprisingly contemporary, considering this book was published in 1959.
This is a really incredible and timeless object.
