Nan Goldin - The Ballad of Sexual Dependency 1988 Opening Invite

$98.00

Goldin’s The Ballad of Sexual Dependency helped define an aesthetic and is one of the artist’s most significant and deeply personal works. The series documents Goldin’s close friends and acquaintances from Berlin to New York to Boston. It features deeply personal shots of celebration, loss, drug use, partying, and intimate moments in between. Contemporary photography experienced a seismic shift with this work. Most obviously shaping the work of Tillmans and McGinley.

Right here is a striking and relatively early Nan Goldin invitation for a showing of photos from The Ballad of Sexual Dependency.

This show opening the Catherine Edelman Gallery and featured 20 images from The Ballad of Sexual Dependency series.

Early Goldin ephemera is scarce and I’ve never encountered another copy of this specific card.

Card is in really nice shape with faint fold line on bottom-left corner.
